Maryland State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)

Maryland SHIP is part of a federally funded program that offers free-of-charge one-on-one assistance, counseling, and education to Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to help them make informed decisions about their coverage options, enrollment, costs, and benefits. 

Our SHIP program coordinator is available to assist you with the following key aspects of the program: 

  • ​Counseling: Provide personalized assistance with Medicare Parts A, B, C (Advantage), and D (prescription drug plans) as well as Medigap options.

  • Education: Help you understand your benefits, rights, and coverage choices.

  • Claims & Appeals: Support you with your billing concerns, denials, and grievances.

While our SHIP counselor focuses primarily on Medicare, they can help you understand Medicare and Medicaid dual eligibility, determine your potential Medicaid eligibility, and guide you through the application process.
