Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is open to limited-income adults aged 60 or older. Eligibility is based on household income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level.

The program is a USDA-funded nutrition grant program managed by the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA). It offers a one-time annual benefit of $35 that recipients can use between June and November of the income-eligible year to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey directly from producers at participating farmers' markets and farm stands across Maryland.

All applicants, including returning participants, must submit a new application for each season. The application generally opens on June 1st of each year. Applicants will be notified within 15 days of submitting their application whether they have been approved to receive benefits. The application period will remain open until all benefits have been distributed.
