Volunteer

Brookletts Place is an exciting nonprofit organization that thrives in part because of our dedicated and passionate volunteers. We offer a variety of fantastic volunteer opportunities and would love - and be grateful - for you to join us!​​

Our current volunteer opportunities are for the areas listed below.

All volunteer needs and opportunities are listed below in alphabetical order.

Bloggers

Description: Recommend topics for approval that would interest Brookletts Place members, including suggested titles. Write blogs that are 1,200 to 1,500 words long, include recommended hyperlinks to outside sources (if any), and email the blogs to the Center Manager, Childlene Brooks.

Other Details:

  • Brookletts Place will review for final edits, select a copyright-free image to accompany the online article (unless the author submits a personal photo with the blog), determine the posting schedule for the blog, and reserve the right to decline any submitted blog.

  • The link to the blog will be shared with each author once it is posted on the website.

  • A link to the blog will also be posted on the Center's Facebook page.

  • Visit the Brookletts Place blog here.

Center Ambassadors

 

Description: Warmly welcome visitors, prospective members, and new members to Brookletts Place during special events. Offer informative, inclusive tours of the Center to prospective members, highlighting member benefits such as special programs, classes, resources, and more.

Schedule: TBD based on special events schedule and prospective member inquiries.

Class / Program Instructors

 

Description: Plan, prepare, and deliver an engaging, accessible class or program (such as art, fitness, technology, or lifelong learning) that would interest Brookletts Place members. Develop the teaching approach, lead in-person sessions patiently and inclusively, and adjust to participants’ needs.

Schedule: TBD based on mutually agreeable date(s) and time(s) of the class or program.

Other Details:

  • A small per-person fee may be charged to cover participant materials and related expenses.

  • The Center's manager has the right to decline a suggested class or program topic.

  • Center staff will promote participation in your class or program.

Fundraising Events Support

Description: Participate as a working member of the fundraising planning group and fulfill the responsibilities agreed upon as a planning group member.

Schedule: TBD based on date of fundraising event.

Other DetailsCompleting specific tasks at the fundraising event may be necessary.

General Administrative Support

Description: Provide various administrative support to the Center's staff based on their needs and priorities. Responsibilities may include organizing documents for filing, copying and distributing materials, handwriting thank-you notes to donors, posting member notices throughout the Center, conducting research, returning phone calls, and performing other related duties.

Schedule: Weekly or daily, as needed, between 8 am and 3 pm.

Meals on Wheels Drivers & Meal Packers

Description: Deliver meals to homebound participants, pack meals for delivery

  • Mileage reimbursement is available and qualifies for volunteer hours.

Special Events Photographers


Description: Take high-quality photos during the Talbot Senior Center's special events at Brookletts Place and other event venues locally to document memorable moments and celebrate the participants. Organize, edit, and forward the digital images to the Center's manager within 48 hours of the event.

Other Details:

  • Final images could be used on Brookletts Place's website, social media, and various marketing materials to promote the Center and its programs.

  • Photo credits will be given to all volunteer photographers.
